JOEPA'S RECORD
Joe Paterno broke Eddie Robinson's record for victories by a Division I coach with No. 409 in Penn State's sloppy 10-7 win over Illinois.
The 21st-ranked Nittany Lions overcame six fumbles with Silas Redd's 3-yard touchdown run with 1:08 to go to give Paterno his milestone win.
Among all coaches, Paterno now only trails John Gagliardi, still active at Division III St. John's, Minn., with 481 victories.
The Nittany Lions' 84-year-old leader watched from the press box on a snowy Saturday in Happy Valley that had fans bundled up in winter parkas and hoodies. Paterno's right leg and shoulder are still sore after an accidental hit in practice in the preseason.

LEGRAND LEADS RUTGERS
Paralyzed player Eric LeGrand led Rutgers onto the field in a snowstorm for its game against No. 25 West Virginia.
It was the first time LeGrand has accompanied the team on the field for a game since he was paralyzed from the neck down making a tackle in a game against Army last October.
LeGrand, who was handed an axe to show Rutgers' desire to "keep chopping," directed his motorized wheelchair while coach Greg Schiano walked next to him and teammates followed at a walk. LeGrand led the team to the 50-yard line, turned right and went to the sideline before leaving the field.
LeGrand has been working this season for the Rutgers radio network as an analyst.

OU'S WHALEY HURT
No. 11 Oklahoma lost top running back Dominique Whaley on the first play against 10th-ranked Kansas State with an injury to his left leg.
Whaley was blocking on a run by Roy Finch when he was rolled over in the backfield.
The Sooners' leading rusher appeared in obvious pain while several trainers and Kansas State coach Bill Snyder came out to check on him. An air cast was put on his left leg extending from his foot to his knee, and Whaley was taken off the field on a cart.
There was no immediate word on the extent of the injury.
