Sometimes it can be hard to figure out why politicians visit one restaurant over another on the campaign trail -- just think of the President's recent disastrous take-out stop at Great Eastern in San Francisco. But it's not hard to see how Mitt Romney chose where to eat when he was passing through Mt. Clemens, Mich. How could he resist going to an eatery with the same name as himself?
True, 'The Mitt,' a soon-to-open pizzeria, isn't named after the former Mass. governor. (It refers to the mitten-like shape of the state of Michigan, ABC's Emily Friedman explains.) But that didn't stop Romney from wishing the restaurant well in the course of his visit, saying "I hope the name does not end up being a problem for you, it hasn't been for me.?
Romney was also prompted by his visit to the restaurant to note that he'd only ever met two other people in the country with the same name as him, reports Reuters. His first name, for the record, is actually Willard; Mitt is his middle name.
